PASD has both full- and part-time vacancies: one-on-one aides, instructional aides, and autistic support aides
QUALIFICIATIONS: The applicant must have at a minimum of an Associate degree or two years (48 credit hours) of post-secondary education. Previous experience working with children preferred. CPR/First Aid certifications required.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent English, mathematics and written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with children.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with teachers in a classroom setting.
- Prior school experience and appropriate education and training in related field preferred.
- Ability to maintain professional, calm and patient demeanor in the classroom at all times.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students and student records.
- Possess the skills to work with students in a small classroom setting or one-on-one.
- Possess the organizational skills to efficiently utilize time and complete duties competently.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION AIDES (One-On-One, Emotional Support, Learning Support)
Be familiar with basic behavior modification programs.
Possess the interpersonal skills to deal with emotionally challenged and academically challenged students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan with teacher(s) for instructional/group skills interaction.
- Provide support to maximize opportunities for small and flexible group and individual instruction in reading, mathematics, and other curricular areas.
- Duplicate, collate and prepare instructional materials for teacher(s).
- Assist teacher(s) in large group instructional activities.
- Assist teacher(s) in monitoring of student behavior.
- Assist teacher(s) with individual and group instruction of students.
- Assist teacher(s) in meeting academic, behavioral and special needs of individual students, groups of students and entire class.
- Assist students with individual assignments and projects.
- Assist teacher in maintaining orderly classroom environment; maintain high visibility; circulate in the classroom; remain alert.
- Assist teacher(s) in planning classroom activities, daily lessons, units, field trips, instructional materials and displays and assignments.
- Assist teacher(s) with use of audio-visual equipment, computer technology and other instructional devices.
- Assist teacher(s) with daily lesson assignments.
- Assist teacher(s) with classroom management.
- Assist teacher(s) by preparing materials and organizing learning centers and bulletin boards.
- Assist teacher(s) with other duties in the operation of the classroom.
- Other duties, as assigned by Principal or Assistant Principal.
